One of the most researched trauma treatments in the world: adapted for adoption and attachment wounds.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) was developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro and is recognized by the WHO, the APA, and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs as an effective treatment for PTSD and trauma. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation (eye movements, tapping, or tones) to help the brain process and integrate traumatic memories that are "stuck" in an unprocessed state, causing distress when triggered.
At Yoffe Therapy, we practice Attachment-Focused EMDR (AF-EMDR), developed by Dr. Laurel Parnell, an adaptation specifically designed for people with early attachment trauma, including adoptees, foster youth, and adults with complex developmental trauma. Jeanette Yoffe is a certified AF-EMDR practitioner and has integrated this approach into her adoption-centered clinical model for over a decade.
Our EMDR-trained clinicians use the AF-EMDR approach Jeanette Yoffe brought to the practice. Start with a free 15-minute call to see if EMDR is right for you.
